CESES volunteers are not remunerated for their work, but their expenses are reimbursed. The assignment costs proper, covering board and lodging, travel and overheads, are covered from appropriate funds, which are limited. For this reason beneficiaries are expected to contribute to cost coverage, according to their financial ability. 

In the case of contracts with international bodies such as the European Commission (EuropeAid) or as a member of a Consortium, CESES operates under the standard conditions with respect to expense justifications and reporting. CESES charges Value Added Tax where legally and contractually required.
